These dark chocolate caramel brownies are so delicious! My family loves them. They are extra fudgy, full chocolate flavor with a slightly chewy and caramel that gets swirled into the brownies and really compliments the dark chocolate.
These never last long at my house that is for sure. They are also fairly easy to make. I use the microwave to melt the butter and chocolate mixture as well as to make the caramel mixture because it is super quick and easy that way. However, you can also use the stove top and a sauce pan to do that part of the recipe, instructions for that are below.
What you need to make dark chocolate caramel brownies:
makes 1 – 8 x 8 pan
- 1/2 cup salted butter
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips, chunks or baking chocolate
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 cup flour
- Caramel sauce
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon water
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 F.
- Heat butter in the microwave until melted or in a sauce pan until melted.
- Add dark chocolate and microwave 30 seconds, then stir until chocolate is melted, repeat 30 second intervals if needed or add dark chocolate to sauce pan, turn heat off and stir until chocolate melts.
- Add sugar into mixture and stir.
- Add eggs and stir well.
- Add flour and salt and stir well.
- Pour into parchment paper lined glass or metal 8 x 8 pan.
- In another microwave safe bowl or sauce pan, add sugar, corn syrup, vanilla extract, water, salted butter and salt together and stir.
- Microwave for 1 minute, stir, then microwave another minute and stir.
- If using a sauce pan, heat until mixture begins to bubble and sugar dissolves, remove from heat.
- Make a few grooves in your brownie batter and pour caramel mixture onto brownies.
- Bake for 30 – 35 minutes or until cooked through, remove from heat and let set until brownies are cooled.
