This Chai Spiced cookie recipe is such a tasty treat! These cookies do not have tea in them but have all of the same warm and delicious flavors as Chai tea.
My daughters love the non-caffeinated version of chai tea at my house. We call it “tiger tea” because we use the Celestial tea brand’s Bengal tea blend that has roasted chicory instead of the black tea. My girls beg me to make it all of the time. They love it with sugar and a little vanilla creamer in it and I think it tastes like a cookie in a drink. So, I decided to make a cookie that tasted like chai tea and thus this recipe was born.
I have been so busy with life that this recipe has been sitting in my drafts for a few months now but it’s time for you all to have this yummy little cookie recipe.
The main spices in chai tea are cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, cardamom and black pepper. This blend can vary depending on the brand of chai. To make these cookies easy to make, without having to buy a bunch of different spices. I compared spice blends and found that pumpkin pie spice actually has almost all of the same ingredients as chai tea.
To make sure it tastes authentic, I have added cardamom, more cinnamon and a pinch of cloves to these cookies to balance out the blend and give you that tasty chai tea flavor.
These cookies have a simple spiced vanilla glaze that you dip your cookies into,. so they are frosted but just enough to give them a little coat of extra sweetness.
