These cake mix banana chocolate chip muffins are super easy to make and taste delicious. My daughter has declared them “the bestest muffins” and I love that she loves them so much!
These muffins are perfect for breakfast or brunch or for a tasty treat. They come together really quickly because of the cake mix.
I love that they require just a few ingredients. The cake mix works great with the smashed bananas and chocolate chips and the banana flavor comes through beautifully.

Makes 24 muffins
- 1 cake mix – white or yellow
- 2 bananas – mashed
- 1 tablespoon instant espresso or pero coffee replacer (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup salted butter – melted
- 1 1/4 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Add the cake mix, bananas, espresso or Pero, vanilla, eggs, butter and milk and mix well.
- Add chocolate chips to batter and stir them in.
- Grease muffin tins or liners and add batter.
- Bake for ~20 minutes or until muffins are baked through.
