These sheet pan grilled cheese sandwiches could not be any easier or more perfectly toasted on both sides with the cheese nice and melty in the center.
I call this my busy mom hack but it works for entertaining a large group just as well. If you are hosting a party or get together and don’t want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen these are fantastic!
Plus, who doesn’t love a grilled cheese sandwich! Even most vegan’s I know love them and this can be made with a vegan cheese substitute and vegan butter.
These can be made in the oven or on a grill. I love to use the grill in the summer or when your oven is occupied.
What you need to make these sheet pan grilled cheese sandwiches:
Makes 12 sandwiches
- 24 slices of bread
- 1/3 cup salted butter
- 8 ounces Monterey Jack cheese – shredded
- 8 ounces cheddar – shredded
Instructions
- Heat oven or grill to 400 F.
- Use half of the butter and heavily grease a cookie sheet.
- Add 12 slices of bread to the cookie sheet, top bread with shredded Monterey Jack and cheddar then top with remaining bread.
- Heavily grease the other sheet pan and place it on top.
- Bake for 10 minutes, carefully flip over the sheet pans while pressed together and bake or grill for another 5 minutes.
- Remove from oven or grill, loosen the edges of the sandwiches if the cheese is sticking to the pan, then flip onto a cutting board. Serve whole or slice into halves and serve. We love ours dipped in tomato soup.
