These instant pot Chinese braised short ribs are tender and deliciously seasoned with Chinese five spice, dark soy sauce, beef broth and seasonings. The instant pot cuts the time down significantly for braising these short ribs.
Short ribs inheritably take a long time to cook enough for them to breakdown and become tender. This recipe requires about 45 minutes of high pressure cooking in the instant pot to make them fall apart tender.
I use this recipe in my homemade bao buns with some cabbage and carrot slaw for a delicious bao bun. I also love it served over rice with fresh sliced green onions. It is also delicious on it’s own too.
I personally use a dark mushroom flavored soy sauce in this recipe, however, you can use any type of soy sauce for this recipe. The dark soy sauce just deepens the flavors a little but regular soy sauce will still be delicious.
