Reishi mushroom hot chocolate is delicious! It does not taste at all like mushrooms but instead has a deep and delicious chocolate flavor. I have cinnamon listed as an optional add in because the cinnamon compliments the mix and gives this hot chocolate a little extra something, however it is optional.
First things first, I am not a medical professional so I do not have a stance on this reishi mushroom hot chocolate, nor am I advising anyone to make it. I want to make abundantly clear that you should discuss using reishi mushrooms with your doctor to avoid any possible complications with other medications or healthy issues.
I actually had a negative response to reishi mushrooms while recipe testing this recipe. So I debated posting it for that reason. I have PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome, an endocrine disorder) and that causes issues regulating my blood sugar levels and the reishi mushroom powder did drop my blood sugar levels rapidly. I have not heard of anyone else having the same experience and I believe it was a rare reaction as millions of people use reishi mushroom without negative side effects but I am sharing my own personal experience as a disclaimer.
So even though I do not personally use it anymore and debated sharing this recipe I ultimately decided to share for those who love mushroom hot chocolate and wanted a recipe to make it on their own. It tastes delicious and it costs a fraction of the cost of premade mushroom hot
mixes.
I buy reishi mushroom powder online, Amazon carries it and a huge bag costs around $12 depending on the brand you purchase. If you buy premade reishi mushroom hot chocolate each serving can cost around $1+ per serving so making your own will save you lots of money.
