If you have never tried browned butter anything you are in for a treat! Browned butter gives a delicious these browned butter waffles a deep and rich taste that makes them extra scrumptious! They are easy to make and can also be made into pancakes. You won’t want to stop eating them.
These taste great with maple syrup or any other your favorite toppings. I like to serve them with pear or apple butter, whipped cream and chopped pecans and a drizzle of maple syrup. It tastes like fall and Christmas in a bite and it’s super scrumptious.
A tip for making these waffles is to let the butter cool slightly before adding it to the batter, it will make the waffles a little softer and tender. You can add a few things to this batter for fun twists on the basic waffle. Here is a list of add in I think would taste amazing with the traditional batter.

- Orange zest – (with cranberry syrup would taste amazing!)
- Cinnamon
- Lemon zest
- Pumpkin or sweet potato puree
- Pumpkin pie spice

What you need to make browned butter waffles:
Serves 4-6
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cup flours
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup milk – if making pancakes add an additional 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Heat butter in a sauce pan until it turns light brown, remove it from the stove and pour into another dish promptly, it will keep cooking and you don’t want it to burn. It can get pretty dark before it actually tastes burnt, so if you are worried then taste it.
- Let the mixture cool until it’s just warm, not hot.
- In another bowl, add flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, eggs, milk, vanilla and warm butter and stir until it’s all blended and smooth.
- Cook in a waffle maker and enjoy!
