Apricot BBQ Sauce

I love this apricot BBQ sauce because it’s sweet and a little tangy and it uses all apricots and no tomatoes. It’s quick and easy to make too! It’s great to make when you have an abundance of apricots. It can be canned or frozen for future use as well.

My kids and husband liked this recipe and I usually put it on chicken or pork that has been grilled. If would taste great on beef as well. It’s also great as a dipping sauce or you could use it in the crockpot, oven or any other way you like to use your traditional BBQ sauce.

What you need to make apricot BBQ sauce:

Makes ~ 2 cups

  • 4 cups apricots – pits removed
  • 1/2 cup sugar – this can be reduced if you don’t want the sauce as sweet
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper – add more if you want this sauce spicy
  • 2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. If using an immersion blender then add all ingredients to a large pot and blend together.
  2. If using a blender, add apricots, sugar, molasses and vinegar to a blender and blend until smooth, then return to a pot and add all other ingredients.
  3. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring frequently then simmer for 10 minutes or until mixture reduces to desired thickness.
  4. use over favorite meats or as dipping sauce.
  5. Enjoy!
