Beef and Broccoli

Beef and Broccoli is a classic take out dish and this one’s simple to make and delicious! It’s also quick to make too! So give take out a break and make take out at home!

My kids love broccoli so they always want to pick it out of this dish and only eat the broccoli. So I always have to persuade them to at least try the meat and after they try it they love it and chow down on the beef and broccoli together!

I use a super thin shaved meat that I get at a market near me. It is called shaved short plate meat. You can slice a steak or any cut of meat thinly too if you can’t find the pre-sliced meat.

The key to this dish is not over cooking the broccoli or the beef. So I add the broccoli towards the end with a little water that helps steam it in the flavors of the stir fry.

This dish can be cooked in any pan or wok. I have added some great woks at the end of this post in case anyone is looking for one.

*Note – This recipe is not a super saucy version of beef and broccoli. If you would like to make this dish saucier you can double the water to 1/2 cup total and add a slurry that is made of 1 tablespoon cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water then cook until it thickens.

Here are some great stir fry woks if you are looking for one:
