I love this pumpkin spice cake with pumpkin spiced frosting! It is easy to make and tastes super moist and delicious! The pumpkin pie spiced buttercream is also just as binge worthy.
What you need to make this pumpkin spice cake with pumpkin spiced frosting: (printable recipe cards are below)
For the pumpkin spice cake:
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 – 15 oz can of pumpkin pie filling
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- Mix all the wet ingredients together, followed by the dry ingredients in a separate bowl, then add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, followed by the the milk.
- Mix batter until smooth.
- Pour into a greased baking dish, 8 x 8 pan for a thicker cake or a 9 x 13 for a sheet pan type cake.
- Bake for ~40 minutes if using an 8×8 pan and ~20 minutes for a 9 x 13 pan. Cake is done when a toothpick comes out clean.
For the pumpkin pie spiced frosting:
- 1/4 cup softened butter
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- 16 ounces or 1 pound of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- In a mixing bow, mix the ingredients with a whisk attachment until it’s smooth and slightly fluffy.
- Optional – drizzle Hershey’s hot fudge (not super hot) on top.
